Way back in 1962 Dr.V.V.Pendse, an educationist par excellence started an institute called Jnana Prabodhini.

To awaken intellectual, physical and spiritual potential in the school going children and develop them into integrated Individuals committed to making positive contributions to the development of our motherland.

Jnana Prabodhini has now grown into movement for motivation of individuals towards a social change. As of today Jnana Prabodhini is work is in the six areas of Education, Rural development, health training cum production, Research and youth organization.

Leadership development in school children has been the first and foremast objective of Jnana Prabodhini camps, organized group tasks, study tours public awareness campaigns, project making etc.

Sensitivity to social problems and national issues is promoted through participation in community festivals, rural development activities and volunteering service in affected areas.

Jnana Prabodhini is also working for the health of rural population in the Shivganga and Gunjavani River valleys for the past 15 years. A leprosy eradication programme, health education, Eye camps, T. B. diagnosis camp, on one hand is for the health and hygiene of the rural people. On other hand expertise is being provided for water management, small-scale industries, women entrepreneurship and saving among women.

The non-formal education involves training of youth, which mainly includes college youth. They are organized to undertake education of deprived and application of technology to solve rural problems. This team takes the responsibility of 100 days school for children of migrant workers.
